Get ready, because it’s about to get serious in Xbox Live Arcade! February and March are synonyms of a gargantuan lineup of awesome games on sale on the Xbox Live Arcade! Why do I use such weird words like gargantuan? Because the lineup is so damn good it’s just gross.
Microsoft’s game-a-week-for-five-week’s schedule dubbed “Xbox Live Arcade House Party” will kick off this February 16th with a new title in Konami’s Contra series, Hard Corps: Uprising, with a price tag of $15. The following week marks the release of Bejeweled Blitz for $10, making it the first console port of Pop Cap’s addictive puzzle game, stirring away from social networks and mobile devices.
And, get this, that HD remake of Beyond Good & Evil? Well folks, the action adventure cult hit is coming to us March 2nd for cheap 10$ which, in this writer’s humble opinion, is a pretty damn good price tag for a game of such quality.
What’s that? All of these amazing games are not enough for you? My, are you the exquisite and picky one, old chap. Well, you’re in luck, because seven days after Beyond Good & Evil HD, you can get the Xbox 360 version of the popular Diablo-esque dungeon crawler, Torchlight, for 15$.
And, finally, the XBLA House Party concludes with the fun-filled multiplayer Full House Poker which is…well, poker! What else, you dummy!? It may not be a cult hit like Torchlight and Beyond Good & Evil, but this little poker game still promises to be a very fun social multiplayer experience!
So there you have it, you’re all ready and set up to start your transition from these cold winter days into spring. In case you don’t want to get any big budget games like Bulletstorm or Marvel vs. Capcom 3, you are more than covered with digital games for February and March…although, honestly, why wouldn’t you get MvC3?

Light up your next party favors

If you're looking for a great way to make your next night time party different from all the ones that you typically attend, you should consider making it a glow in the dark or light up party. Picture a minature rave but without all the controlled substances and you will have the right idea. With some great music, novel activities and a little bit of pre-planning this can become a raging success and it won't cost all that much either. You just have to make sure that you have enough time to wait for all the supplies to arrive!
There aren't a whole lot of things that you are required to buy in order to make this party a success but we strongly reccommend a black light (if you don't already have one) as it will make all the white and neon colored objects whether they be streamers, banners or even shoelaces glow in the dark. You can also get some light up party supplies such as martini glasses and half yard glasses like you see in the picture for a very affordable price. These will serve to illuminate the drinks that you serve and for some odd reason make them look more appealing ( I don't really understand the dynamics of human psychology). When it comes to the decorations around the party, consider putting up a few white balloons with glow sticks hanging from them.
Finally, when it comes to the dancefloor, clear out some space and remove any short or breakeable objects. We know you may be feeling lazy but its best to get all that stuff out of the way so that you won't be running and tripping over all that stuff in the future. The best way to be prepared is to remove even the chairs because people tend to be very low energy when they're sitting down. Some LED party lights around the peripherals will help people navigate the area as the black light is usually not the best at illuminating everything.
If you still need some ideas for a cool activity, you should consider giving people highlighters as the mark they make will be illuminated in the black light. Hand people some white T-SHirts so they can draw on each other and the surround banners and posters that you put up!

LAN parties can be a great if a little nerdy event if done right. If you are reading this article then you know that in order to have a successful LAN party you should do a little bit of preparation work as sometimes things can get a little complicated when people are eager to play videogames but everyone has different equipment. Just keep a few of these tips in mind and your next LAN party will be an epic battle royale.
The first and foremost thing about LAN parties though is that when you game into the wee hours of the night or early morning, people have a tendency to get hungry so always have some good comfort food available like Pizza or hotdogs. If you don't want to do the dishes afterwards you can also pick up some party supplies cheap online and then you can really get back to gaming as soon as possible. Your party may not have all the guests show up some don't go overboard with the supplies because people are there to game anyway.
Lastly, you'll want to make sure that your equipment is going to be able to run and that everybody has the latest patch of the game. Nothing drains more time from a lan party then several people with various different types of equipment all trying to run the same game but nobody can figure out how to because you have several different versions of it. You would be surprised how quick the time flies and after everybody has eaten, they may all end up leaving.

Sony’s Third Party Woes

In amidst Sony’s latest firmware update, MCV has reported that a number of third party devices are rendered nonoperational.
Peripherals manufacturer MadCatz is the most effected and they are amongst the first to be outspoken about this problem.
“Over the last 24 hours, various media outlets have reported on issues gamers are experiencing after downloading and installing the new 3.50 firmware for their PS3 video game systems,” reads a statement from MadCatz to FileFront.
Mad Catz is also taking measures to ensure their devices, like their Street Fighter IV FightSticks and Wireless FightPads will continue to work. Owners of their products are asked to contact Mad Catz customer services department. Provided that the device is still within warranty, the company will offer a suitable replacement.
Mad Catz has also recently announced that their Rock Band controllers do function after update.
In response, Sony released a statement stating that they will look into the unintentional block of licensed accessories. The patch was originally intended to stop devices like PSJailbreak to enable the PS3 so it can play pirated games by preventing certain USB devices from working.
The problem seems to stem from older products that some stores may still carry. The current line, according to the statement, should work fine.
