Speaking on the latest Official PlayStation Magazine UK podcast, Editor-In-Chief Ben Wilson has hinted that a new open-world game is coming that will grant players the ability to create their own missions for others to download and play. When discussing GTA and where that particular franchise might go next, Ben states:

“There is another game that we can’t talk about – I’d love to – that we know where it’s an open-world game that’s coming out this year. Everyone’s looking at me confused – this is genuinely true, I’m not making this up. Basically it’s an open-world game where people will be able to design their own missions online and share them.”

We’re not sure what it is, but with LittleBIGPlanet enabling players to create their own platforming levels, and ModNation Racers gifting budding track-designers the chance to dream up some wondrous racing scenarios, is it any surprise that Sony might take the “Play. Create. Share.” mantra to the next level with user-generated adventures in a sandbox title?

The fact that it’s due out this year and we’ve heard nothing about it until now is also both equally suspect and remarkable. Expect to hear more about this one in the future, folks. We’re already putting the feelers out to see what we can find.
